Solution

Arcbazar is the first-of-its-kind online competition platform connecting clients, architectural designers, and contractors. The platform simplifies how people launch, participate in, and evaluate small to medium-scale architectural design projects — creating a seamless bridge between design talent and real-world opportunities.

My role as the UI/UX Designer was to craft a clear, elegant, and intuitive interface that reflects the creativity of the architectural community while ensuring effortless usability. The result is a visually refined digital experience that balances professional credibility with artistic warmth.

Overview

Arcbazar was built to address a long-standing gap in the architectural ecosystem:

  • Clients struggled to find affordable, high-quality design services.

  • Designers lacked accessible opportunities to showcase their talent.

  • Contractors needed a reliable channel to collaborate and execute designs.

The platform unites all three through a competition-based model, allowing clients to post projects, designers to submit entries, and communities to vote or provide feedback — all within one cohesive system.

Goal

The core design goals for Arcbazar were to:

  • Create a user-friendly competition interface for project posting, participation, and evaluation.

  • Build an aesthetic aligned with design culture — clean, modern, and subtly artistic.

  • Design clear interaction flows between clients, designers, and contractors.

  • Encourage community engagement through transparent voting and feedback systems.

  • Develop a consistent design language with pastel tones, elegant typography, and handcrafted illustrations to reflect creativity and trust.

Problem

The architectural design process has traditionally been fragmented and inaccessible — clients often rely on local networks or agencies, while emerging designers struggle to find visibility. Previous online solutions were either too technical or lacked emotional connection.

The challenge was to design a professional yet approachable platform that visually represents architecture’s artistry while delivering the clarity and usability of a modern web app.

Process

Research & Insights
We analyzed existing freelance and competition platforms to identify gaps in how creative projects are presented, evaluated, and rewarded. The insight: users wanted transparency, simplicity, and a touch of human creativity — not another corporate portal.

UX Approach
The UX was centered around three user types — Clients, Designers, and Contractors — each with clear journeys and roles.

  • Clients can easily post competitions, set budgets, and review entries.

  • Designers can submit proposals, receive ratings, and engage with feedback.

  • Contractors gain visibility through project involvement.

Voting, marking, and feedback mechanics were designed to be transparent and intuitive, reinforcing community trust.

UI Design
The visual identity draws from pastel color palettes, light typography, and hand-drawn craft illustrations — evoking the tactile, artistic side of architecture. The layouts are clean, modular, and structured, giving space for visual submissions to shine.

  • Soft gradients and neutral tones enhance readability.

  • Custom icons and illustrations add personality.

  • Elegant typography and spacing create a modern, editorial feel.
