Optimizer is an online web app that enables users to edit and optimize GIF files quickly and interactively. The platform offers a suite of tools including Compress, Crop, Timeline, Resize, Speed adjustments, and Add Text — all operating in real time. Users can instantly compare their original GIF with the optimized version side by side, ensuring full control over quality and file size before downloading. The bold, playful design makes the editing process engaging while keeping the interface clear and functional.
Overview
Unlike many existing tools that provide static or one-off optimization, Optimizer focuses on a live editing experience. It combines multiple GIF editing features in a single, streamlined interface while maintaining instant visual feedback. My role as the UX/UI Designer was to create an interface that feels both powerful and fun — allowing users to make precise adjustments without technical friction.
Goal
The main goals for Optimizer’s design were to:
Create a one-stop platform for GIF editing and optimization
Deliver real-time before/after previews for instant results
Balance professional-grade features with ease of use
Use a bold and interactive design style to keep the process playful
Ensure efficiency for single or bulk GIF uploads
Problem
Editing GIFs online is often a fragmented experience, requiring multiple tools or downloads. Existing apps were either too basic (offering only compression) or too complex (with cluttered interfaces and no live preview). The challenge was to create a feature-rich, yet accessible tool where users could edit GIFs visually in real time — without guesswork or delays.
Process
Research & Pain Points
We identified that users struggled with not being able to see how changes (like compression or cropping) affected their GIFs until after exporting. This insight drove the decision to make live side-by-side previews a core feature.
Design Approach
I designed the app around a modular editing flow, where each tool is presented as a clear option in the sidebar.
Drag-and-drop upload for single or multiple GIFs
Side-by-side comparison of original vs. optimized versions in real time
Interactive controls for compression levels, speed sliders, text overlays, etc.
Bulk upload support, allowing users to optimize multiple GIFs in one session
A bold visual style with strong color contrasts and large, interactive elements to keep the interface approachable

Optimizer turned a traditionally tedious process into an engaging, interactive web experience. By combining all-in-one features with real-time previews, the platform empowers users to edit and optimize GIFs with confidence. The bold design not only enhances usability but also reinforces the playful, creative spirit of working with GIFs.
